Hi.

(At the sight of Lucretia, all the tension from the day seems to melt away. Beverly shifts to shit up in her bed and as she does, her bandaged arm comes into view. Other than that, though, she seems okay, if exhausted.)

[scholiast]

(Lucretia wanders over to come and have a closer look, taking a careful seat on the edge of the bed. Leaning in, she brushes her hair back with her fingertips so she can give Beverly a little kiss on her forehead.)

Are you alright?

[dancingmd]

Now I am.

(Kisses always help. But she knows what Lucretia is actually asking so she holds up her injured arm.)

I was...attacked, by a patient. Dr. Strange took care of it though. I'm more worried about some other people who were injured much worse than I was.

[scholiast]

(Being cute isn't gonna get you out of explaining, Beverly!! Lucretia's concern does soften a little, though.)

A patient? (How strange. She frowns, gaze flickering down to the bandages again.) That must have been scary.

[dancingmd]

It was. I'm... Still a little shaken to tell the truth. They... They were really scared and I don't think they would have done this normally. They attacked me more as...a warning, I think.

(She frowns.)

If someone had just let me talk to them...

[scholiast]

(She takes Beverly's hand on her non-bandaged side, and links their fingers together.)

Someone?

[dancingmd]

(She sighs.)

One of the guards. He was doing his job I know but it made things so much worse.

[scholiast]

Ah. Sounds a little awkward.

(And this was what escalated and got Beverly hurt? Lucretia frowns, and smooths the bedspread absentmindedly with her free hand.)

You said Stephen saw to you?

[dancingmd]

Mmm. He was too drained to use much of his healing powers so I am having to do it the old fashioned way. (She squeezes Lucretia's hand reassuringly.) I promise, I will be fine. I have been through much worse than this.

[scholiast]

I wish I had healing spells.

(This isn't the first time she's wished such a thing aloud.)

But I know; you're very tough.

[dancingmd]

I know. I wish I had my equipment from home too, but we will make due.

[scholiast]

We will.

(She smooths her thumb over the back of Beverly's hand.) Are you sure I can't get you anything?

[dancingmd]

Not unless you can get them to discharge me faster.

(She sighs. Of course, it's not just about her injury, it's about wanting a statement from her as well.)

[scholiast]

(Oh, if only her intimidation modifier weren't so pathetic!)

I can't make any promises, but I will try to look authoritative if anybody comes back in here.

[dancingmd]

(She grins and gives Lucretia a swift kiss.)

My hero!

[scholiast]

(Lucretia looks absurdly pleased with herself; she gives Beverly's hand a little squeeze.)

Any time.

I'll see if I can get Taako to bring me some things so I can stay here tonight.

[dancingmd]

(!!!)

Are... is he talking to you again then?

[scholiast]

Nope. (SHRUG.)

But he won't begrudge me a small kindness.

[dancingmd]

(Her hopeful expression falls away. Poor Lucretia.)

That's something at least... I hope you can work it out eventually.

[scholiast]

(Lucretia nods, but she isn't looking at Beverly, and her vague smile doesn't reach her eyes.)

We will.

Okay, uh, I'm going to go do that– you should try to get some rest.

[dancingmd]

(She holds Lucretia's hand a little tighter.)

Please stay, just a little longer. It... will be easier to go to sleep if you're here.

(She's more freaked out than she wants to admit to right now.)

[scholiast]

(Aw. Her expression softens, and she gives Beverly's hand a reassuring squeeze.)

Of course. It's okay if I keep sitting on the bed?

[dancingmd]

(She nods and even scoots over to give Lucretia more room.)

Tell me about your day. What were you working on?

[scholiast]

Oh.

(Weird that she was just in her office an hour ago, because it feels like a lot has happened since then.)

Nothing exciting, just helping out with some editing. I actually like doing it, so I get asked to look over reports sometimes.

[dancingmd]

Hmm want to edit some of mine too?

(She's teasing, of course.)
