INBOX text / audio / video / action Hi, Lucretia speaking. I'm busy at the moment, but if you'd like to leave a message, I'll get back to you ASAP. art creditcode credit
[The text comes... a few days after their argument, during which time Taako has barely been at the apartment, preferring to stay with Eddie while he tries to comes to terms with everything that happened. It's been a shitty fucking week, and at the end of each day, he keeps coming back to the fact that he misses Lucretia.
So he comes home.
Only to find her not there, which feels both ironic and typical. Still, rather than surprise her with his sudden presence back in their space, he decides to send a text to warn her, essentially.]
I'm making chicken confit for dinner, what time do you think you're gonna be home?
[It's the most innocuous text he could send, but it speaks volumes.]
(It's funny that he's been avoiding home and by extension her: Lucretia has been doing much the same thing by way of pulling long nights in her office at Gramayre, coming back to the apartment only to shower and sleep. It's strange, being in a prolonged fight with Taako. She's never been in one before. She doesn't know the rules. When she receives his text, she almost knocks her phone off the edge of her desk in her scramble to look at it.
It's a lot more conciliatory than she thought it would be. Than it has any right to be, really. She thinks very intensely about her reply, even though she has absolutely no agenda hidden behind it. She's fairly sure his doesn't either.)
Another hour tops. Want me to get anything on the way back?
(This is... both correct, and offensive. Also embarrassing, because Lucretia is currently at home, and has answered with a big cup of tea clearly in shot, and a book in her free hand.)
That's– (She makes a face, nose scrunching up.) Well, I guess we can't say it's particularly untrue, can we.

Thankfully this message comes a long while after Lucretia has had time to sufficiently calm down or she probably wouldn't have bothered answering. Still, she sounds quite tired when she does.)
Good news: Magnus showed up Bad news: He's fresh off the Starblaster in Fearun and hasn't met me again yet so like, we've got ourselves a fucking moral quandary.
We're need an IPRE meeting when you get back, me you and Lup, just thought you might like a heads up in case you're checking the network while you're doing your thing.
[It takes a lot for him to send this text. He rewrites it a handful of times, nearly throws his phone at the wall in anger and frustration, but finally settles on something.
Because this is important, because they need to talk to Magnus, and unfortunately, Lucretia now has the same information Taako has, maybe more, about what she used Junior to do to all of them. He's not doing this for Lucretia, he's doing it for Magnus, so he knows everything there is to know.]
(The text nearly makes her drop her phone: Taako's the last person she expected to hear from. She's begrudgingly impressed that he reached out at all: this must have been quite difficult for him for him to send.)
(When her phone goes off with Magnus' username (of all usernames), Lucretia stares at it for a long moment before she reaches over to unlock it and read the message.
There's been an incident at the hospital. Don't worry, I'm safe, but I wanted you to hear it from me, not on the news. I don't know how long it will be before I'm cleared to leave.
(Lucretia glances up from where she's sitting on the floor, crossed legged and in consideration of a charcoal sketch propped up on her easel in the corner of her living room. When she registers the telltale signs of both a tray of brownies in Lup's hands and the presence of Magnus' sweater, she raises an eyebrow, amused.)
[At some point in the even, Taako accidentally ate an unconscionable amount of the trippy mushrooms and is having A Time. Lup is probably somewhere in the house, but his awareness extends to his phone and not a whole let else, right now.]
(This sure is a thing to get out of the blue but– actually, hey, if Lup's been running amok with edibles lately maybe it's not all that nonsensical after all? Lucretia really has no idea at this point.)
(Lucretia lets this one sit for an hour after she gets it because she can't decide whether it's funnier to reply or to ignore it completely. Eventually she sends back:)
(The day had started out bright enough, with Beverly and Lucretia exploring the ice maze, but discovering Beverly's gift at the center of it - a picture of her and Wesley together put more of a damper on things than she'd like to admit. Feeling tired and extremely homesick, all she wants to do this evening is curl up by the fire in their rented cabin by the beach. She sits huddled on the rug in front of the fireplace with a heavy blanket around her shoulders and the picture in her hands. She smiles apologetically up at Lucretia.)
(Lucretia had disappeared momentarily and come back with hot chocolate for two, spiked with a bit of baileys; she passes one to Beverly as she comes to sit with her, leaning over to kiss her temple.
Beverly is still holding onto the photo like it might disappear if she lets it go. Lucretia takes a sip of her drink and leans in for a closer look.)
