INBOX text / audio / video / action Hi, Lucretia speaking. I'm busy at the moment, but if you'd like to leave a message, I'll get back to you ASAP. art creditcode credit
[She starts moving around a bit, and there's the sound of her opening the zipper of the bag - and then something big being taken out. There's a wooden creak or two, and Lucretia might smell a bit of an odd scent. Resin?
Finally, Lup seems to be done with what sheΒ΄s doing, and there's a few more sounds of fidgeting...
...then there is music. A soft, gentle tone of a violin, starting something of a slow and lazy tune.]
I won't! (She does pretend to peek just the once for a laugh, but then she dutifully sits with legs crossed and eyes properly closed. Lup sure is mucking around with something over there, zipping something out of... something, assembling her surprise.
When the music starts, Lucretia's eyes pop open immediately. She's already smiling. She hasn't heard Lup play in years. Even towards the end of the cycles everything had become too tense; they just hadn't had time for hobbies.
Lucretia wants to say something, but would hate to disrupt the meandering melody. She swallows her words, and actually closes her eyes again, the better to listen to the slow rise and fall of Lup's song. It's so soothing. It reminds her of much calmer times.)
[It's a somewhat ugly thing covered in weird emoji stickers from the last owner, but Lup obviously worked on making it sound right. It shows in the way she moves the bow, bringing the music to life for her friend.
It's a journey, the melody starting slow and almost shy and slowly growing into something bigger and more epic - all while keeping the little thread from the start in it.
Lup plays what feels like forever, and it takes her mind of everything - death, undeath, growing bodies, haunting memories, fear, helplessness and grief.
All that is missing is a piano.]
I call it 'Lucretia'.
[She finally says as the music comes to an end in a long, drawn-out tune.]
It's a ridiculous thing to think, but Lup is just that good. She weaves meaning into her work. Stories. She'd promised a song, and she'd delivered one, just for her. Lucretia sits and listens with her eyes closed, losing herself in it. Her favourite part is the small, reoccurring notes of the original melody. It's... reassuring. It's good to know that Lup still thinks that Lucretia still exists inside of who she is now.
When Lup stops, she opens her eyes, and only then does she realise her eyes are full. She blinks, and two tears roll down her cheeks.)
Oh, (she says with a soft sigh, plucking her glasses off so she can wipe her eyes.)
[ Lup feels so alive, so full when she stops her melody. She needed this more than she had even thought she did, and looking at her friend... maybe Luce did as well.
She leans in towards Lucretia and gently helps wipe her eyes. ]
How long did it take you to write that? It was beautiful.
(She wishes, belatedly, that she had thought to record it... but on second thought, it's nice that the piece exists as it was only in that singular moment. Just for her, just for the two of them. Lucretia likes that thought a lot.)

Don't cry, silly girl.

I'm not, you made me do it. (She sniffs, and puts a hand on her heart with a sigh.) Thank you, Lup.

[Flopping down on the floor next to Lucretia, Lup stretches like a cat and gives a content sigh.]
I liked having something to work on for a little while.

[She smiles softly.]
I loved your face when I brought in the bag. What did you think I was gonna do?

(She grins, sheepish.) A pleasant surprise.

(lup please)
This is an explosion-free zone; you will have to take them elsewhere.

(She gives Lup a playful shove.) This all you been up to recently?

Pretty much. That and baking like.... a million cupcakes with Taako since he promised to make one for every child in Riverview.

(She looks wildly amused, fighting to control laughter. Sounds like somebody lost a bet.) I didn't know he was such a philanthropist.
